YOUNG ATHLETES & TEENS AT FORM SEVENOAKS

Strength training is increasingly recognized as a crucial component of young athletes' AND teenagers physical development, enabling them to enhance their athletic prowess and overall performance.

When properly delivered strength training can help aspiring athletes build a solid foundation of muscular strength, endurance, and power, which can be instrumental in improving their agility, speed, and explosiveness.

Moreover, such training can help reduce the risk of injuries by reinforcing the body's structural integrity and enhancing joint stability. Beyond the physical benefits, strength training instils discipline, commitment, and a strong work ethic in young athletes, teaching them valuable life skills that extend far beyond the playing field.

BUILD AN ENGINE SPECIFIC TO YOUR SPORT

Strength & Power training forms a large part of helping teens and weekend warriors become a better athlete, but the importance of specific sessions to develop aerobic and anaerobic fitness shouldn’t be overlooked.

For many sports, from rugby, hockey & football to athletics and swimming, aerobic fitness is a fundamental requirement for success. It not only boosts an athlete's capacity to perform at their best during competition but also aids in quicker recovery and injury prevention.

Everyone who’s stepped on the sports field has experienced that horrible sinking feeling when the lungs and legs are burning and your skills diminishing with it. Strength is all but useless if you can’t keep up with the pace of the game, which is all about building an aerobic base.

Our coaches will help you build your engine inside and outside the gym, working around your sports schedule.

IS STRENGTH TRAINING SAFE FOR TEENAGERS?

When executed responsibly, strength training can contribute positively to a teenager's physical development and overall health. The stresses of sprinting, jumping, landing, physical contact and quick changes of direction involved in most sports place the joints under huge amount of load.

Developing strength in the muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments in the controlled environment of the weights room is incredibly effective way to build resilience in those structures and reduce the risk of injury.

When compared to other sports like running, football, rugby and hockey for example, strength training is much less likely to cause injury.

Here at FORM we pride ourselves on delivering exercise that is safe, effective and got great long term potential.
